Weekly Update #373: SHINRAI Console Release Date

Yep, it’s official now: the console port for SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair will release on October 29, just in time for Halloween!

The game is slowly starting to show up in a few different places now, so if you own a Nintendo Switch, for instance, you can already check out the official store page and add it to your wish list! Other sites, such as TrueAchievements, which is dedicated to XBOX games, also provide the complete list of achievements, if you’re curious about those.

Now, that brings me to the question… which consoles is SHINRAI actually coming out for? Well, I’m pleased to announce that it will release not only for Nintendo Switch, but also for XBOX One, XBOX Series X/S, Playstation 4 and Playstation 5!

Personally, I gotta say that, as someone who grew up a Nintendo kid, seeing our little VN show up on a Nintendo console is by far the most exciting part about all this! Not to mention the fact that the Switch even provides the possibility to play it on the go!
It’s definitely another big dream of mine finally come true. Seriously, as I mentioned on Twitter the other day, it’s really difficult to put into words just how it feels to see SHINRAI show up in the official Nintendo eShop, haha.

That said, I’m pretty happy that the ports for Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles are happening as well, since we obviously can reach a much broader audience this way. And it’s all thanks to our good friends at Ratalaika Games!

The price will be the same as on Steam, so $14.99 and, as mentioned previously, the port is identical to the PC version, meaning that you won’t find any new or exclusive content. Thanks to last year’s anniversary update, it does feature quite a few improvements compared to the original release however, in case it’s been a while since you’ve last played it.

I guess that about covers all the important info. The only other thing I could mention is that the game was rated T by the ESRB and got a USK 16 here in Germany. I will talk a bit more about everything following the actual release, including how the whole porting endeavor came to be and what kind of challenges we faced throughout it.

If you want to check out the trailer, you can do so here (it’s identical to our original trailer, though):

(Just seeing that Switch logo pop up right before it is so hnnnnnngh…!!)

Now, as always, I wish you to enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, please take care! :3
