After tackling the Sprites for Rei and Shinketsu, I have mainly focused on finishing the “crime scene” version of the Main Hall background over this past week. Patrons can now get an early look at it over here!
With this background finally out of the way, the assets for the next scene are now all there, meaning that we can soon start to code it. The current plan is to have an early version of the scene ready for patrons next month, so that they can help us with bug-testing.

In last week’s blog post, I was talking about the sprite variety in SHINRAI and GENBA as well as how I usually go about creating sprites and what kinds of considerations go into that. Over this past week, I put that to practice as I continued working on Shinketsu‘s and Rei‘s sprites for the extended demo. Patrons can even get a look at some previews of all the sprites over here!
Please keep in mind that only my part on the sprites is done. What’s still missing is for them to be properly colored by Natsu.
Once she has taken care of that, I will post some updated sprite sheets with the actual finished versions!

As mentioned in last week’s blog post, I’ve been focusing on sprite work for GENBA no Kizuna again. Patrons can actually get a little preview of two of Shinketsu‘s more elaborate new poses. He was certainly a lot of fun to work on since, out of all the characters so far, he has the greatest variety in expressions, only rivaled by Keiichi.
Because of that, finishing Shinketsu’s sprites was also quite a bit of work though. Due to the blood splatters, seams and tears all over his lab coat, getting continuity into their positioning across all of his poses was kind of a chore. But I guess I’m satisfied with how everything looks now, so I’ve been moving on to Rei again.

Over this past week, I’ve continued working on what I’ve talked about in last week’s blog post. Namely, making some adjustments to GENBA no Kizuna based on the feedback we have gotten so far. So let’s take a look at what exactly has changed!

Today’s blog post is going to be another short one as I am currently on a sort of semi-vacation, so there isn’t too much in terms of progress to report. Nevertheless, I have continued working on GENBA no Kizuna, so let’s talk a bit about the current state of things!

Today, exactly two years ago, we finally released our first visual novel project SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair after a 3-year-long development journey. It’s difficult to imagine that it’s already been that long and, at this point, I begin to wonder if I will ever truly get used to the fact that we have actually managed to pull this off. Sometimes, it still feels a bit surreal to see SHINRAI on Steam and itch.io along with all the comments, reviews and messages we have gotten. It’s an amazing feeling, however, and all the support and feedback we have gotten is most definitely something we will never take for granted!

Over the course of this past week, I’ve continued working on the crime scene version of the Main Hall in GENBA no Kizuna‘s primary location: the Kaseki Residence. I’ve posted a “pre-crime” version of it some time ago, which you can check out here.
That was kind of the easy part. Creating a variant of this background after the crime has occurred, however, is quite a bit more difficult, since it requires special attention to detail. So let’s talk about that for a bit today!

So, today will be a shorter update, since I’ve been busy with a variety of things over this past week, quite a few of them actually not having much to do with VN development. I did, however, still get some work on GENBA no Kizuna done, so let’s talk about that first!
