Weekly Update #279: Christmas Preparations Part III

Alright, let’s start off with a little sale reminder! Right now, SHINRAI is 50% off, so if you haven’t played it yet or you know someone who would enjoy it as a Christmas gift, you can find all the details regarding the sale right here.

Now, with that out of the way, let’s get into what’s new this week: Natsu has finished coloring our annual Christmas artwork, featuring GENBA no Kizuna‘s Amber Harding! Patrons can already take a look at the finished piece over on Patreon and download a hi-res version. Of course, the artwork will be publicly posted on the 24th!

So what have I been up to? Well, outside of Christmas preparations, I’ve been busy continuing my work on the BG art for Ryuunosuke‘s room, preparing the New Year’s artwork and I’ve finally started talking to Solo about the next BGM track for GENBA. He’s even sent me a demo already, so patrons can look forward to hearing a new addition to our soundtrack soon!

There isn’t much else to say right now, so I guess I’ll keep this update short once again. I’ll make a quick Christmas post on Tuesday and then, next Saturday, you’ll have a bit more to read when we will finally get to our 2019 retrospect!

Until then, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and take care! :3

Weekly Update #278: Christmas Preparations Part II

Less than two weeks now until Christmas Eve! There are still things that need to be taken care of before we get there, but most of the important stuff is out of the way now, at least. Just earlier today, I finally posted a full preview of this year’s Christmas artwork over on Patreon. Natsu still needs to color it before it’s fully finished, but at the very least, my work on it is officially done now, meaning that I can finally commit myself to other things again.

One of those will be the New Year‘s artwork of course, and another one our annual retrospect, along with a posting about our goals for 2020. For the next couple of days, however, I will devote my time to some actual VN development again. I’ve actually spent some time on the GENBA script this past week and want to continue doing so. Because I’d like to finally finish up the comments/dialogue scenes for the investigation of Ryuunosuke‘s room.

By now, I have gathered a lot of ideas for what Keiichi can comment on and how to present certain clues and information without shoving them right into your face. Just gotta put it down properly now!

Unfortunately, that’s really all I can say at the moment, so I guess this ends as another super short post again, sorry!

So, as always, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care! :3

Weekly Update #277: Christmas Preparations

Okay, so I kinda lost track of time a little and therefore really don’t have much time to write a blog post this week, meaning that I will have to keep this very short and basic, so sorry about that! Then again, it’s not like there is awfully much to report, anyway. Which doesn’t mean I haven’t worked on anything over this past week. It just means that I can’t really share many details yet.

So what have I been so occupied with during the last few hours and a majority of the week? This year’s Christmas artwork, of course! We’re already one week into December, so I want to get this out of the way ASAP. Don’t want to have to worry about getting it done in time by starting a little later, after all.

If you’re a patron, you can get a first sneak peek at the illustration right here. Another preview will follow shortly.

Anyway, that’s what I’ve been mostly busy with and all I can really talk about at the moment. It’s two more weeks until Christmas, and there are still quite a few things to take care of, even outside of the whole VN development thing.

So yeah, I guess that’s more or less it. Sorry for such a short update this time, but in order to make up for it, you will get something pretty long to read in a couple of weeks for our yearly retrospect and boy do I have much to talk about! For now, however, I wish you to enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a chill and soothing December! Until next Saturday, take care :3

PS: if you’re a patron and you haven’t checked out the New Year’s art poll yet, be sure to do so within the next week! We’re currently at a three-way tie, which doesn’t really help in picking a winner!

Weekly Update #276: Minor Details Of Major Importance

Work on background art continues! Unfortunately, I can’t really show anything regarding my progress on Ryuunosuke‘s room just yet, not even another new preview for patrons. It’s almost done now though, missing just a few more tiny details… of rather huge importance! Which leads me into today’s topic and to something I can actually show you, even if you might have already seen it before: the main hall of the Kaseki Residence in its original state, prior to the incident that sparked GENBA no Kizuna‘s events.

Weekly Update #275: More BG Art Progress!

Once again, I’m going to keep things relatively short for this update, since I don’t have much time and nothing too major to report.
I mostly spent my time working on the background artwork for Ryuunosuke‘s room in GENBA no Kizuna again. Patrons can see the newest preview here, while non-patrons can check out the very first preview in this public Patreon post.

The BG is coming along pretty well. I have added a lot more detail to it now. The problem with this one is the fact that it’s not only tied to an investigative gameplay segment, but also contains some important details regarding the overall murder case. While working on SHINRAI, I never needed to spend too much thought on most of the resort backgrounds. The only ones that really mattered were those tied to investigations: the dining hall, the breaker room, the guest room with the bodies inside…

When you look at those, you’ll be able to clearly tell that they contain noticeably more detail than the corridors of the resort or the entrance hall to Raiko‘s home, for instance. So, they took me much longer to draw. However, there’s another reason for that.

Weekly Update #274: BG Art Progress

Whereas the last couple of weeks have been heavily writing-focused, this time, we’re talking a bit more art again. Although I have continued with planning and script preparations for the second chapter of GENBA, I have spent the last few days mostly with the BG art for Ryuunosuke‘s room, adding more and more detail.

Patrons can check out the most up-to-date preview right here. However, even non-patrons can finally get a first look, as I have made the very first preview post public now. You can check it out here. Outside of a few preview pics, it also contains some information about the way I tend to work on BG art, as well as my first experiences using the 3D-modeling software SketchUP Make.

Weekly Update #273: More Writing Progress!

This past week, I mostly spent working on the script again. I finished the final scene for GENBA‘s first chapter (which patrons can read in its entirety here), while simultaneously working on the beginning of the second chapter, titled 先史時代の欠片, or in English: Prehistoric Puzzle Pieces. I even have a little preview for you:

That’s right! I have finally gotten to the part I am most excited to work on! The preparations are complete and the first proper investigation phase is about to begin!

Weekly Update #272: Writing Progress

Alright, just a very quick update today, since I’m not left with that much time!

As mentioned during the last few blog posts, I want to focus on finishing up GENBA no Kizuna‘s script over the next few months, so naturally, I have spent quite a lot of time writing during this past week. My original plan was to finish scene 12 and post the full thing on Patreon, as well as a little preview here. Unfortunately, I unexpectedly had way more trouble with it than I thought I would, meaning that it’s still not done “orz

In general, I was in kind of a writing slump this week. Nevertheless, I at least managed to make some progress on scene 13, which is actually the final scene of the first chapter. It’s halfway done and a preview available to patrons right here.

Happy Halloween!

It’s the spookiest day of the year again and this time, as voted by our patrons, our grumpy little Raiko has dressed up as Heather Mason, the protagonist of Silent Hill 3! And of course, she is accompanied by none other than Pyramid Bat, wielding the Great Knife!
