Weekly Update #366: Final Preparations

We’re less than a week away now from SHINRAI‘s 5th anniversary, so we’re currently entering overdrive mode to get everything ready in time. As such, I’ve spent most of the day beta-testing GENBA, trying to catch whatever little typos and mistakes might still be hiding within it. Thankfully, I’ve barely stumbled across anything thus far, but I also still have quite a bit of content left to go through.

As a matter of fact, Natsu is currently still busy coding the last few scenes, so I won’t even be able to check those until she’s done.
That’s why I’m mostly focusing on the content of the already released extended demo. While the entire first chapter will be available to patrons only, we’re still going to finally update our public demo, which underwent quite a few tweaks since its original release.

Of course, I will talk about all of this in detail on the 26th, so for today, we’re going to keep this post a bit shorter again!

There isn’t too much else I can get into, anyway. I have continued work on the second chapter and our little side venture as well, but the former is a bit too spoilery to talk about and the latter will be publicly unveiled very soon, so yeah…!

My part on the artwork that will go along with that announcement has been finished, too, so if you’re a patron, you can already check out a preview of it right here!

Weekly Update #365: Another Quick Progress Update

With SHINRAI‘s 5th anniversary drawing closer, I’ve started work on a special little illustration this week. If you’re a member of our Discord Server, you can already catch a first glimpse of it in the “shinrai_bbd” channel! I’ve made some pretty good progress on it, so a proper Patreon preview will follow shortly!

This illustration is gonna go along with the “public announcement” I’d like to make, which I’ve been teasing for a while now. Work on the little side venture has continued as well and although there’s one last hurdle to overcome, we’ve almost made it to the finish line! We’re really just in a “wait for final approval” phase now.

As for GENBA, Natsu‘s finished coloring the new sprite variations for Rei, so I whipped up another zip package for her, containing everything to code the next scene. Now I just gotta wait for her to finish up the “dead body” CG, and I can send her the remaining two scenes as well.

By next weekend, everything should finally be done, so that we can spend the days leading up to the actual anniversary with beta-testing and release the entire first chapter in it’s fully playable state to patrons!

Weekly Update #364: Quick Progress Update

As mentioned in last week’s blog post, I’ve spent the first couple days of August doing some play-testing. Not for GENBA, though.
I’ve been going through SHINRAI yet again for a very particular reason. It’s still a bit too soon to elaborate on it, so I’m really sorry for all the secretiveness, but this little side project is almost done now. I really only need to take care of one more asset-related task and then just have to wait and see as our partners take care of the rest. By the 26th, I’ll definitely be able to finally unveil things, though!

Until then, I’ll get back to GENBA. I worked on the sprites for our two witness characters some more, one of them only missing a couple more facial expressions now. I wish I could share some previews, but with these two, I’d really like players to meet them in the actual game, so even in this regard, I gotta continue to be secretive, haha.

Work on the script has continued as well and next up, I’ll tackle the remaining three DPA entries for the first chapter. Almost forgot about them… tomorrow, they should be done, though. And then, I guess I can finally get to the second chapter!

Weekly Update #362: Asset Progress

As you can tell by the title, asset work has continued and I’m finally done with everything art-related that was still missing for the first chapter! So all that’s left now is revising the script for the last scene and finishing it up already. There is one more week to go before the end of the month, so I’d really like to be done by then and, starting from August, fully focus on chapter 2.

Of course, August will also be the month of SHINRAI‘s 5th anniversary, so some stuff needs to be prepared in that regard as well.
At the very least, I’d finally like to make that certain announcement publicly, which I’ve been holding off on since last year now, haha.

Weekly Update #361: Chapter I Nearing Completion

Alright, unlike last week, this time, I have some exciting things to share again!

You may have already seen it on Twitter or our Discord, but Natsu finished coding the investigation of Ryuunosuke‘s room, meaning that I got a chance to play through the whole thing and boy was it fun! Seeing everything in actual VN format is such a different experience and I think it turned out pretty well! I really can’t wait for you guys to spend some quality time with Amber, haha.

Weekly Update #360: CG Progress

Today, we’re just going to have a very quick progress update!

While Natsu is busy coding the rest of the investigation, I’ve continued working on the subsequent scenes, mainly focusing on assets this week. The plan is for me to prepare all the assets that Natsu will have to color/shade, such as the “dead body CG”, so that she can take care of that after her current coding work, while I will then move on to the script-related stuff.

The “dead body CG” is basically the only thing left now, anyway, my work on it nearing completion. I will give it one last look over tomorrow, before then sending it to Natsu. So, starting from Monday, I can do the final script revisions.

That honestly kinda sums it up already. It’s been a bit of a slow week again, as I’m still struggling with things in my private life, but as mentioned last week, I’m still picking up the pace again, little by little.

Weekly Update #359: Plans For July

New month, new plans and new goals! I’m currently still in the process of getting things back in order, so everything is progressing slowly, but it’s progressing nonetheless and, day by day, I’m picking up the pace a little. As a matter o fact, I haven’t felt this much determination to get things done in a long while, undoubtedly bolstered by the amount of progress we have made recently!

Natsu is diligently coding the investigation, which I can’t wait to see in its actual, playable state. For the first time ever, she was also able to actually read the investigation content herself and her feedback made me feel extremely relieved, happy and confident. If she thinks it’s funny and entertaining, I think I’m on the right track, haha.

Weekly Update #358: Ryuu’s Room Investigation Progress

Things are still rather… turbulent in my private life, so I haven’t been able to make as much progress again as I would have liked to. Only during the last couple of days, I was finally able to get back on track and seeing how much progress I’ve made in this short time span alone just makes this all the more frustrating. With this pace, we could have easily managed to finish the entire investigation segment this month, but alas…

There are only four more days left until the end of Jurassic June and although I’m gonna try to make the most out of them, I’m afraid releasing the new demo version for patrons ultimately has to be postponed until next month. So I’m terribly sorry about that “orz

At the very least, I can say that I’m very satisfied with how things are coming together.

Other than that, there isn’t really much else I can say at the moment, but for the last blog post of Jurassic June, I’d like to leave you with a bit more than just a quick update, so here’s a look at the finished base sprite for Kurou:
