Summer’s in full swing and you know as well as I do that the best way to cool off from the hot temperatures is to experience a chilling murder mystery! Luckily, the Summer Sale has just begun, meaning that SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair has once again fallen victim to a heavy price cut, so… what are you waiting for? Go right ahead and grab it!

Weekly Update #464: BG Art Progress
Phew, this was quite a busy week and, as you can tell from the title, it was primarily spent working on the missing background art!
Honestly, I haven’t really worked on much else regarding GENBA. I’m just utterly committed to finishing the backyard of the Kaseki residence at the moment and will continue to work on it in the next couple of days. I can’t (or rather “don’t want”) to share any public previews just yet, but I have published a new Patreon post in which you can see a couple work-in-progress glimpses that show the evolution of the background, from simple line art to a little test screenshot. So if you’re curious about that, you can find the post here!
I wish I had more to say, but that really wraps it up progress-wise and, since I’ve been so busy again today, I’m also short on time.
Therefore, I guess we’ll come to a close already and leave things at a super short update again. I will have a longer one for you next Saturday, however, when Jurassic June will sadly have come to a close. I can’t fricking believe how fast time just zooms by again “orz
But yeah, until then, I wish you to have some fun and relaxing summer days! Take care :3

Weekly Update #463: Another Quick Progress Update
We are still continuing work on GENBA no Kizuna‘s final investigation phase, which, at the moment, primarily revolves around art asset creation for me. If you want to learn a bit more about what exactly is on my to-do list and even see some examples of recently created assets, be sure to check out last week’s blog post! If you’re a patron, you can also see some additional asset previews in a newly published post right here! And if you’d like to learn more about the structure and scope of the second investigation phase in general (or our “penultimate chapter”, as I’ve been referring to it mostly), you might also wanna read the first blog post of this month, which goes pretty in-depth on the topic!

Weekly Update #462: 2nd Investigation Phase Progress Update
In last week’s blog post, I went into quite a bit of detail regarding GENBA no Kizuna‘s “fourth chapter” (or its “second Investigation Phase” as would be more fitting to call it), so if you’re curious about its length and structure and why it’s been taking us so long to work on it, be sure to check it out! It will also give you a much better idea of GENBA‘s overall scope and progress.
Now, regarding the progress we’ve made this past week, I’ve primarily been busy with the latest set of investigation routes which, this time around, only consists of three: one for Keiichi, one for Himatsu and one in which Rei and Shinketsu team up.

Weekly Update #461: “Chapter IV” Structure
At long last, Jurassic June is once again upon us, meaning that I feel more excited and motivated than ever to continue working on our dinosaur-themed murder mystery GENBA no Kizuna! And given that we’re planning to finish it up this year, I think it’s also the perfect time to really start spending more thought on its release and to take the whole marketing side a little more seriously.
If you didn’t know yet, the Steam page for our little VN project is actually up already, which also features a trailer, so if you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check it out and add it to your wishlist!

Weekly Update #460: Quick Progress Update
Short on time again today, with still a couple things I gotta get done, so this week’s update will just be another really quick one!
While Natsu is currently testing the latest set of investigation routes she’s coded into the game, I’m very busy getting the next one ready for her! Rei‘s is even very close to being done already. All that’s left are two DPA entries I gotta write and a bit more revising.
The script for Keiichi‘s route is almost complete as well. In his case, the bigger issue are the new BGs I still gotta finish up.
We’ve also made some progress on the OST again, with another new track composed by Solo! The credits theme, in fact!
With this, the tracks for the main story are all taken care of now, however… we’re not quite done in terms of music yet!
The remaining ones will be used for gallery stuff, such as extra scenes and… well, as I’ve mentioned before, we’ve also got one very special track in the works right now, but I sadly can’t say too much about it at the moment! Other than that I’m super hype about it!
Anyway, I’ll be sharing some public previews of the credits theme very soon, as well as the complete track with patrons, so be sure to keep an ear out for that! Jurassic June‘s just around the corner now too and… well, I guess it’s about time to really get more proactive on the whole marketing side of things, so please look forward to a lot more info and previews in general!
Now, with that said, it’s time to get back to work, so please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3

Weekly Update #459: Chapter IV Progress Update
As mentioned in our last blog post, this past week my task was to finally take care of Shinketsu‘s latest route and I can proudly announce that it’s officially done as well! My part on it, anyway. Now it’s all in Natsu‘s hands to make it playable along with the wrap-up scene for the second set of investigation routes and, naturally, she has continued working on exactly that! In the meantime, I’ve moved on to the next set of routes, which requires a few new assets, one of which I’ve shared a preview of on Patreon today:
A new sprite variation of our grumpy police chief Nobuhiko!

Weekly Update #458: More Writing & Coding Progress
Today is one of those days where I’m a bit pressed for time, so we’re gonna have a really quick update again!
As you can tell from the title, Natsu has continued coding and made some very good progress on that front!
When it comes to the current set of investigation routes, Keiichi‘s and Himatsu‘s are fully done and Rei‘s is soon to follow suit.
Script-wise, everything’s in the game already and Natsu only needs to properly implement the interactive elements now.
That would only leave Shinketsu‘s route and the wrap-up scene for the whole set!
Now, while the latter is ready to be sent over, I’m currently still busy getting Shin‘s route to that point as well.
It’s mostly a matter of revisions and editing. You know, making it all sound a bit better, more natural and fixing the flow of some parts.
I’m trying to get this all done by tomorrow evening, so that Natsu can finish the current set of investigation routes this upcoming week, while I’ll naturally move on to preparing the next one! I’ve already done a lot on it, including working some more on the new BGs, so hopefully, we can finish it up soon as well and with it the entire fourth chapter at last!
That’s really all I can say at the moment, so please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3

Wekly Update #457: Background Art & Coding Progress
It’s once again time for a quick progress update and as you can tell from the title, we’ve moved ahead in two very specific categories!
I started out this week by finishing up the CG I mentioned in last week’s blog post and shared a preview of on Patreon and, along with it, I’ve also fully wrapped up the conclusion to the current set of investigation routes. Afterwards, I then began to tackle the remaining backgrounds needed for chapter four, two of which depict the backyard of the Kaseki residence. It took a bit of going through the script and planning things out properly, as this will be another BG that players can examine, but once that was taken care of, I was able to make some good progress pretty quickly. If you’re a patron, you can get a first WIP glimpse at this BG as well!

Weekly Update #456: Plans For May
Last week, I talked a little about some of the difficulties that come along with writing an interactive murder mystery visual novel with non-linear segments, so if you’re curious about some of the struggles I’ve been facing while working on the latest investigation routes, please go ahead and check it out! As for today’s blog post, we’re going to get back to a more regular progress update.
