Weekly Update #377: Plans For November

The spooky season lies past us now, unfortunately, and we’re entering the final stretch of the year, which is usually one of the busiest times for me (and for most of everyone else, I’d guess). There is a lot to do in order to achieve the goals I have set for myself before the end of 2021, but before we get into our plans for the coming weeks, I’d like to give a little reminder that our murder mystery SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair is now available on consoles!

(Check out my grumpy little daughter on the Nintendo Switch <3)

You can find more information about the release and all the different platforms it covers in our announcement post. I’ve also shared some personal thoughts on the whole porting endeavor in last week’s blog entry, in case you’re curious about that kinda thing.

The game is currently still on a launch discount of 20%, but not for much longer, so be sure to strike while the iron’s hot!

It’s been pretty exciting to see all the reactions, reviews, videos and streams popping up. It sure is on a whole different level compared to our initial PC release five years ago, and I’m happy to see the excitement for our little visual novel invigorated, along with my own excitement to work on the next project and finally bring it to digital storefronts as well!

I have made some very good and satisfying progress on GENBA no Kizuna this past week and am currently about to finally finish up Keiichi‘s investigation route. Asset-wise, my work is basically done. I just gotta check all the art-related stuff one last time before sending it over to Natsu for coloring. Solo is also about to finish up the new music for the route and I’m just about done with the script as well. It will undergo one final check when Natsu is done with the coloring and ready to code, of course, but outside of that, tomorrow will be the last time I’ll touch up on it.

It currently sits at about 13,000 words and won’t stray much further from that. Starting from Monday, I will then tackle the script for Himatsu‘s route, which is already done about 70% I’d say. I just need to revise what’s already written and then take care of the interactive stuff like investigation commentary and such. Ideally, I’ll have that done by next Saturday.

I can’t really say at the moment how long each individual character route will be. It would be cool to keep them all around the same length, but I’m pretty sure there will be some big variations. One the one hand, it’s unfortunate if you will spend less time playing as one character compared to the others, but at the same time, I don’t want to pad out a route just to hit a certain word count.

I guess we’ll have to see how things will turn out in the end, but yeah, for the next few weeks, I will focus on getting the other routes done. Shinketsu‘s and Rei‘s will mostly be script work as they barely require new assets, whereas Himatsu will likely require a few more sprite variations, but I will have to finish the script for her route first in order to be sure.

That’s about all I can say at the moment, so please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care! :3
