The spooky month of the year is finally upon us again and, as we’ve mentioned previously, it’d serve as the perfect time to finally bring our original, Halloween-themed visual novel to consoles! If you want to learn more about SHINRAI‘s console port, be sure to check out the link above, which contains all the information I can share up to this point.
Not only does this fit with the theme of the game, it’d also be a nice celebration of its initial conception. After all, exactly ten years ago, during the time from September to October, I first wrote down the story of SHINRAI, even if, back then, it was only supposed to be a quick little Halloween tale to entertain Natsu. Never would I have imagined that, one day, we’d release it as a visual novel on PC and, a couple years later, even on home consoles!
It may be a rather old story at this point, but it still fills me with excitement to think about all of these developments and about all the fans and support we’ve gained over the last five years, ever since its release. I seriously can’t wait to play it on a Switch myself!
Anyway, since all our work on the port is done, all we can do now is to wait for our partners at Ratalaika Games to finish up the rest.
In the meantime, we will continue work on our second project, so yes, GENBA no Kizuna will once again be the main focus for the next four weeks. Once Halloween comes around, I plan to have all the art assets done for chapter 2 and 3, which now boil down to some evidence images to be used in DPA entries, the design of the textboxes and analysis screens for the individual character routes, as well as a couple more sprite variations, mainly for our suspects. How many, I cannot say quite yet, as I will need to thoroughly read through Himatsu‘s route again and check which ones are truly essential and where I might be going a bit too far.
Along with this, I also plan to finally share more stuff on Patreon again, now that I can get back to less spoilery assets, so if you are a patron, be sure to keep an eye out for new content in the coming weeks!
Now, that about sums it up. Gotta get back to work, but before I leave, I’d like to bring your attention to this:
Silver Hatsuyuki (aka Strange Notes) has just released her entry for the Spooktober VN Jam, titled The Raven.
If her name sounds familiar, that’s because she’s the one who’s drawn the little chibi Raiko you can see on the right, way down below the blog post archive. She’s also drawn the chibi Rei on the GENBA page and the chibi Amber I shared not too long ago.
Anyway, if you’re looking for something to start getting into the right mood for the month of Halloween, maybe check it out!
Now, with that all said, I wish you to enjoy a spooky rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3
