Weekly Update #612: Back With Another Track + Nekoversary + spookY2K Release

That’s right, today, we’ve got more music from our cool composer Crescendo to share! And this latest addition to the SHINRAI Saku soundtrack might even sound familiar to you, as it’s based on “Sorrowful Investigation” from the original SHINRAI:

Once again, the full track is available to supporters of both Crescendo’s Ko-fi (3$ memberships) and our Patreon (5$+ tiers).

As mentioned before, Saku won’t feature an elaborate mystery with a full-on investigation like our previous titles did. Nevertheless, there’ll come a moment when Raiko will have to once again use her deductive abilities and so we needed appropriate music for that!

Now, that only really leaves the credits theme and we’ll be done with not just the soundtrack but everything sound-related in general, because, this week, Crescendo also helped me with finalizing the remaining sound effects, yay!

Not only that, I’m about to finish up another background artwork as well, leaving only one more (super simple) one to go afterwards!
If you’re a patron, you can thus expect to see a new BG post popping up this coming week.

So yeah, slowly but surely, we’re checking off one category after the other on our to-do list, which is really exciting!

  • 1st Nekoversary

Speaking of exciting, some other news I’d like to share is the fact that Jun‘s adventure visual novel Neko No Sentouki is currently celebrating its very first release anniversary! As you (hopefully) know by now, I’ve been involved with the project myself. But even though it may have only been in regards to its English translation, I’m very grateful to have had the chance to contribute to this wonderful (albeit heart-wrenching) story. You can read my full thoughts on it in this old blog post or this Steam review).

Plus, I’m actually very proud of the work I’ve done, so I want you to fricking read it just for that reason alone!!!!!

So, if you haven’t yet, now’s a great time to rectify that, as the game’s currently 20% off on Steam and itch. But not for much longer! Only until May the 4th, in fact, so you’d better do like the Millennium Falcon and hyperspace-jump over to that checkout right away!

The official artbook is also on sale for 20% off, but only available on itch. Just like the game itself, it’s worth every scent, as it features almost 200 pages of beautiful art (including protagonist Aiko in pajamas 🤤) like this:

  • spookY2K

I also wanna take a moment for another quick little shout-out to a just released visual novel project by fellow devs Kigyo and ZetaKen.
In spookY2K, you “play as a deeply confused amnesiac who wakes up at a 2000s Halloween party. You may try figuring out how you got there, but that quickly stops mattering when a mysterious killer shows up!

Personally, you can always sign me up for a Halloween party involving death and if you’re here, I’d wager a guess that this might apply to you, too! So definitely do check it out (or at least the demo)! It’s also currently 20% off (until May 15) and available on Steam and itch.

Well then, that wraps it up for today, so as always, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3
