Weekly Update #570: Saku Sprite Progress

Now that we’re finally able to fully delve back into development of SHINRAI Saku – Blooming Beyond Despair, I’ve decided to kick things off and properly get back into the groove by taking yet another look at the sprites. Since our main goal right now is to translate the first three scenes of the script into playable visual novel format, I’ve made a list of all the characters and their expressions that are required to do just that. And I’m happy to say that I’ve finally taken care of them all! Raiko was still missing her “thinking” variation which I’ve finished earlier today and if you’re curious what it looks like, well… here’s a preview!

Now, granted, the sprite still needs to be properly colored by Natsu, but at least my part on the ones necessary for the first three scenes is taken care of, so I’ll move on to the next task. Meaning that it’s finally time to tackle those backgrounds! I’ll start the initial prep and planning right after finishing this post, so that I can get into the nitty-gritty tomorrow. There are only two backgrounds needed for now: the interior of a guest room and the corridor outside of it. I should be able to save myself some time by reusing some stuff from BBD, but I guess that’s something I’ll talk about in more detail another time.

Anyway, I’m glad to finally be able to share some visual progress again and can’t wait to also show you the final sprites once Natsu has finished them! But for now, it’s time to get back to work, so please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3
