Weekly Update #521: More Polish

Today, let’s take a little peek into the past, shortly before the release of our first visual novel SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair.
Because what I typed up for our weekly blog post on July 24, 2016, can essentially be copy-pasted to sum up our current status:

We’re still very busy getting SHINRAI ready for release. There’s still a lot of tiny little things that need to be done here and there, unfortunately. I’m currently making a list of those, which not only includes feedback and mistakes discovered by our beta-testers, but also a few things I’ve noticed myself over the last few days, which definitely need to be fixed.

It’s little things like these that drag out the release a bit more. It sucks, but I really want to make sure that everything is in order.
I guess you could argue that there’s always the possibility to patch things later, but I’m honestly not a big fan of that kinda mindset.
I’d rather have everything working properly from the get-go and avoid the need for patches altogether.

But yeah, because of that, I’ve been going through the game one more time myself. I’ll be handing the list over to Natsu tomorrow, so that she can fix those things, but once that’s done, I think we’re really good to go.

Really, the same words apply to GENBA no Kizuna right now. This past week, I’ve been making a list of all the remaining things that our beta-testers (and me as well) stumbled into and that still need to be fixed. It’s primarily small stuff like typos, missing words, grammar issues, character speech inconsistencies, text formatting problems, etc. Since Natsu has taken care of revamping the DPA, all the really big and serious stuff is fixed now. So, from here on out, it’s really all about more polish.

Well, that and getting the build on Steam, of course, as well as making the achievements unlockable. And while, even in that regard, we’re pretty much on par with our SHINRAI progress all those years ago, I’m still a bit worried that something might go wrong, so…

Yeah, even though I’m itching to make a proper release date announcement, I’m still gonna hold off on that a little longer, sorry!

Anyway, there really isn’t too much else to say. We’re less than a month away from our ideal release date, so we’re super duper busy and hard at work to get everything done for it (meaning we would need everything to be ready by mid-August, actually). Which is why I’m gonna wrap it up right here and get back to work!
