Weekly Update #487: Writing Progress

Last week, I talked a bit about the final “social phase” of GENBA no Kizuna, how it’s structured and how the whole “bonding with your teammates” aspect of the game works, so if you want to know more about that, be sure to check out our previous blog post!

Naturally, I have continued working on the social phase over the past week and essentially finished the scenes for Rei and Shinketsu. Himatsu‘s was kinda done as well, but after thinking it over for a bit, I want to revise the way her conversation with Keiichi ends, since I feel it currently doesn’t fully align with her personality. I already know how exactly I want to fix this, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’ll commit myself to that right after this blog post, however, so that I can hopefully finish before bed time!

That aside, there is of course some more general polish and proofreading necessary, but that will be postponed. After working on the same scenes for a longer period, I tend to get accustomed to what I’ve written, which makes it more difficult to spot flaws and inconsistencies and recognize them as such. What usually helps is to take some distance, work on something else and then return later with a cleared mind to get a fresh perspective. So, once the Hima scene is taken care of, I will move on to the next one!

And that will pretty much be the final scene of the game: one last conversation between Keiichi and Nobuhiko.

Now, if you want to get technical, there are also some quick bonus scenes still missing, which will play during the credits (as was the case in SHINRAI) and then one final secret scene if you clear with a high detective rank, but those are pretty short and I don’t count them as part of the main story. But either way, next week, I’ll hopefully be able to proclaim that the entire story of GENBA is finally fully readable from beginning to end, even if some more polish will still be required!

Anyway, that’s about all I have to report in terms of progress for today. It’s December, so things are generally getting a bit busier again, but I’ll also be on vacation soon! I’ve also decided to skip out on the Christmas and New Year’s artworks, as much as it sucks for me personally, as I always enjoy working on those. However, I really just want to focus on getting the actual game done now!

With that in mind, it’s time to get back to work! As always, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3

(PS: Oh right, in other news, Fuwanovel announced a couple of days ago that a VTuber by the name of Mai Kyua is going to be working with them! And wouldn’t you know it? The first VN project they’ll be streaming is going to be SHINRAI! I don’t know the specific dates yet and I’m pretty nervous about it, as I always tend to be when someone checks out our project… but I’ll try to be there live if possible, so maybe I’ll see some of you guys there as well!)
