Weekly Update #357: Quick Progress Update

Well, as the title suggests, this is gonna be a really quick one. I’ve been rather preoccupied with something popping up in my private life, so there isn’t much to report, anyway. Natsu has been very diligent, however, and took care of implementing all the stuff I’ve sent her recently into the game, so at least on that front, things have been moving ahead.

That’s really all I can say at the moment, so please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care!

Weekly Update #356: GENBA Chapter I Continuation

Aside from the fact that Natsu still has to implement the changes for our extended GENBA demo (which you can read in detail about here and here), the update marathon is finally over. At the very least, my part in it is, meaning that I can finally get back to actually continuing the events of the demo. So let’s talk a little bit about what that actually means and entails:

Weekly Update #355: GENBA Chapter I Update

In last week’s blog post, I presented to you the changes we’ve recently made to the prologue of GENBA no Kizuna.
Today, we’re going to do the same thing again, but this time in regards to the actual first chapter!

With the prologue, I guess you can say that the changes made are overall very minor. With the first chapter, on the other hand, you will be able to see some more significant and obvious tweaks. Before we get into those, however, here’s a quick list of some general adjustments which have already been covered last week, but also apply to chapter 1:

Weekly Update #354: GENBA Prologue Update

Alright, if you’ve been closely following our recent updates, you probably know that our main goal right now is to finally get the entire first chapter of GENBA no Kizuna fully playable. In order to do so, we need to add 4 additional scenes to the content of the extended demo, and although that might not sound like much, one of those scenes is actually an entire investigation segment, so the term “scene” may not be completely accurate here.

I’ve always regarded the investigation of Ryuunosuke‘s room as “scene 11”, but in reality, it actually consists of a whole bunch of smaller scenes. You can examine a lot of objects in his room and talk to Amber about various topics, all of which will trigger a wide variety a small scenes. As a matter of fact, “scene 11” by itself almost makes up 1/3 of the entire first chapter.

In last week’s blog post, I also mentioned that some of the dialogue scenes with Amber cover rather complex topics, which posed quite a challenge to write, and all of this plays into why it’s been taking so long to get the “last bit” of the first chapter done.

I will talk about all of this in more detail once we get to the point where everything is actually done and released (at least to patrons), so today, I’d like to focus on a different step towards achieving this goal: adjusting the prologue.

Weekly Update #353: Ryuu’s Room Investigation Progress

This past week, I’ve continued working on the investigation of Ryuunosuke‘s room, slowly shaping things up into what I want them to be like in the final game. For the most part, that means ironing out the dialogues and investigation comments, as well as deciding what kind of stuff to keep, what to kick out and what to restructure.

Weekly Update #352: Amber & Keiichi

Currently, I’m working on the first real investigation segment at the end of the first chapter, in which Keiichi and Amber are inside of Ryuunosuke‘s room. Although most of my time has been spent on the script again, writing the various dialogue scenarios between the two of them, I’m also taking care of the remaining assets that are needed to visualize everything.

Both of them still needed a couple more expressions, especially for some of the more serious topics they discuss. Thus, we’re going to have a somewhat depressing update today with sprite preview of a lamenting Amber:

I think I should really have all the sprites for them ready now, so all that’s missing is for Natsu to properly color and shade them.
In the meantime, I will continue with the script and fix the last few details on the actual background for Ryuu‘s room.

I’m actually on vacation from my day job now, so I hope to make a lot of progress during the coming week. I’m very motivated at the least, since I seriously can’t wait to get this stuff done and finally play these scenes!

Anyway, I’m gonna get back to work right away, so please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care! :3

Weekly Update #351: Script Adjustments

For the most part, this past week has been spent on script work again. As I mentioned in last week’s blog post, the main goal this month is to finally get the first chapter fully done. Part of that involves going through what we have already released in the shape of the extended demo and making some adjustments, based on the feedback we’ve received ever since its release, as well as on the work I’ve done on the rest of the script.

Weekly Update #350: Quick Progress Update & Plans For May

Today, we’re just going to have a very quick progress update again, so let’s start with the best news first: I can finally do art again!

After having some monitor issues over the past two weeks, that prevented me from working on the assets, I’m back to precisely that and even managed to get a lot of things done, even though they were all admittedly kinda minor tasks. I am working on a few bigger things, though, such as a new background, which will also be the last one needed to visually cover chapters one to three.

Weekly Update #349: The Writing Continues

As mentioned in last week’s blog post, the monitor of my desktop pc recently died, which is quite essential for me to do anything art-related. As such, I’ve been focusing on the writing again, while waiting for my new monitor to arrive. And although it did a couple of days ago… it unfortunately has a few issues, so in the end, I’ll have to get another one and thus mostly skip out on any asset work for GENBA for a little bit longer “orz

Weekly Update #348: Back To The Script

Yep, that’s right, this week has been fully dedicated to script work again! I didn’t even have much of a choice, since last Saturday, just a couple hours after posting the update, my pc monitor actually died on me, so… until I have a new one (which should be on its way), I can’t really do any art-related work, as all of that is tied to my desktop pc.

Definitely a rather frustrating (and costly) incident, but welp… at least I made some more progress with the script!
