This past week, I mostly spent working on the script again. I finished the final scene for GENBA‘s first chapter (which patrons can read in its entirety here), while simultaneously working on the beginning of the second chapter, titled 先史時代の欠片, or in English: Prehistoric Puzzle Pieces. I even have a little preview for you:
That’s right! I have finally gotten to the part I am most excited to work on! The preparations are complete and the first proper investigation phase is about to begin!
I had actually already written six pages for the second chapter, adding up to around 2,000 words. However, after reading through them again, I felt rather dissatisfied. I’ve saved the whole thing in a separate document for myself, but I will probably never share it. Most of it was silly banter, anyway. I took out the crucial elements and decided to integrate them into the last two scenes of the first chapter. Rather than having the second one start with an “intro scene” of six pages, I’d also much prefer the idea of just getting a character select screen right from the get-go.
The way it works is that you choose one of the four investigators and play through their little route. As Rei, you will search the scene for clues and evidence, as Shinketsu, you will examine the body, as Himatsu, you will interview the Raptor Pack, and as Keiichi, you will get to meet the mysterious witnesses.
Once all four routes are completed, you will automatically switch back to Keiichi and get a chance to improve your “social links” with your team mates, after which everyone will gather in the exhibition room for the third chapter.
I have already prepared a lot of stuff for the second chapter. Dialogue exchanges have been written and even a whole bunch of stuff for Rei‘s investigation, because every now and then, I get struck by inspiration and need to write everything done before I’ll forget.
The next step, however, is to properly plan out the second chapter scene by scene. Order of events needs to be fixed, for example, or the sequence in which discussion topics are presented. I am pretty excited about this though, because I have been waiting a long time to get to this point. Since most of it will be pure planning and therefore not as work-intensive as actual writing, I also want to focus a bit more on the background for Ryuunosuke‘s room again now. So that I can hopefully finish it by the end of the month!
Anyway, I guess that’s about it for now, so please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care! :3
