Only a couple more days until SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair and GENBA no Kizuna will celebrate their release anniversaries!
There are still things left to prepare, so we’re gonna keep today’s post on the shorter side again, as I’d like to get back to work ASAP.
But in exchange, there’ll be a whole lot more to say and show on the 26th, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Now, speaking of “show”, I do have a little sneak peek here for you in the form of another glimpse at SHINRAI Saku‘s user interface:
I played around a bit more with the notebook menu, which I guess I hadn’t shown a preview of yet. But that’s what it will look like!
Once again very similar to what you might already be familiar with from our previous projects.
Originally, I was thinking of making it a two-page-deal again, as was the case in BBD and GENBA, meaning that you would’ve needed to use arrow buttons to flip between the first and second page of the character profiles. But in the end, I simply downsized the profile icons to fit all of them on a single page. After all, this would have been the only instance in the entire game that would have required arrow buttons, so… why not just get rid of them entirely?
And yes, I guess with this, I can confirm that twelve characters will make an appearance in Saku, even though there are only nine slots displayed on its sub page here on the site. That’s because three of those characters will play very minor roles and not even get full body sprites. It would’ve felt odd not to give them at least a profile page, though. I think that’s what players would expect, given how important these characters were in BBD and, this way, I can also share some extra details about them, which I couldn’t work into the script.
Anyway, this got a bit longer than planned, but I really gotta call it quits here now. You can see a few more GUI pics on social media, which I posted earlier today. But for more… you’ll have to wait until the 26th!
