Weekly Update #517: Beta-Test Phase

That’s right! After spending the last couple of weeks thoroughly testing GENBA no Kizuna, we’ve finally reached the point where we can send out the beta build to our testers!

This is very exciting, of course, but also kinda scary. At least for me personally, as this will be the first time that people other than Natsu and I will be able to play through the entire game and experience its conclusion. Sure, we’ve already had people test everything up until the end of chapter three and received very positive feedback for it, but…

Well, the last two chapters are where the real heart of the story and mystery lies and there are many many things I’m worried about.
I’ll likely elaborate on this once we’ve gotten the feedback, but right now, I don’t want to stress myself out even further, ahahah…

So let’s just focus on the positive: we’re another huge step closer towards finally releasing this!

While the beta-test phase commences, Natsu and I will continue to work on a few more minor things to polish the presentation and do a bit more testing ourselves. Then, we’ll have to see what testers will have to say and what kinda issues they’ll run into (hopefully none). And then it will be time to get the game up and running on Steam, implement achievements and… just do some more testing for good measure!

As I’ve mentioned previously, we’re currently about on par with our SHINRAI status prior to its release in 2016. So, while (just like back then), I don’t wanna make a huge official announcement yet, we’ve currently noted down August 26, this year’s SHINRAI anniversary as our GENBA release date! So keep that date marked on your calendars!

Anyway, it required a bit of crunch, but I’m currently very satisfied with us getting the beta build done before the end of Jurassic June. For once, something did go as planned! The build will be sent out tomorrow, but until then… I think I’m gonna chill a bit now.

And I hope you’ll do the same! As always, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3
