Weekly Update #508: Detective Ranking

I’ve mostly wrapped up work on the credits for GENBA no Kizuna now. All that’s left to do in that regard is the Patreon section, as I’m still waiting for some of our patrons to tell me if and how they’d like to be credited. So, in the meantime, I’ve moved on to tackling the Results Screen of the game, which will show you how many Detective Points you’ve earned and what Detective Rank you have achieved upon conclusion of the investigation.

Just like SHINRAI, GENBA won’t feature a penalty system, so if you don’t present the correct piece of evidence, you can keep trying until you get it right. And in the case of choices, picking the wrong one will simply play out in a way where the story still continues and one of your teammates might provide the correct solution instead. As such, it’s entirely possible to finish the game with a score of 0!

There are going to be seven different achievable ranks. In SHINRAI, they ranged from E (0 points) to S+ (full score), but for GENBA, I’m currently thinking about adjusting it a little to go from F to S instead. The main reason for that lies in the fact that a B rank for getting half the points seems a bit high and SHINRAI players were always baffled when they finished with an S, despite not getting everything right, haha. So yeah, going with F, E, D, C, B, A and S might result in the letter rank to feel more appropriate for the individual score range.

Anyway, I’m actually mostly done with the ranking system already. Just need to work out some more minor details, revise the comments a little and that’ll be it! Would really like to finish before bed time, so I’m gonna get right back to it now!

Well, almost, because I once again have some art to share with you as well! Check out this new addition to my Amber collection drawn by the very talented Koiriin:

Really love the pose and perspective here!! Koiriin is a manga artist about to publish her first one shot Nanny Camo, which I’m definitely looking forward to checking out now! She’s also open for various kinds of commissions from manga portraits to NSFW illustrations! I really like what I’ve seen of her work and would highly suggest you give it a look, too!

As always, I’ve added the art to our gallery where you can now find a section for Koiriin!

Now please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3
