Weekly Update #507: Credits

As you can see from the title, this past week, I’ve been primarily working on the credits sequence for GENBA no Kizuna, so I figured we could delve into that topic a little more today. There are essentially two parts to the credits: the credits themselves and the “epilogue” scenes interspliced with them, just like it was the case in SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair or how you might know it from the Ace Attorney games.

So, basically, the way it works is that you get two black screens with a couple of credits on them, then a scene between two of the characters you’ve met throughout the game, and then it just keeps alternating between that.

The scenes are all written and have been refined a bit more during the last few days, so what’s really left now are the credits themselves, which can be a bit tricky in some parts. I’m particularly thinking about the inclusion of our patrons, for instance.
We just did a general thank you statement for them in the demo, but for the full game, it would feel rather cheap, so I’d like to actually list the names of our supporters. However, some might feel embarrassed, awkward or even uncomfortable about that, which is why I’m currently figuring out who’d like to be listed and who doesn’t.

Of course, I’m also yet unsure who will end up in the beta-tester section, so we will likely just go with a “temporary credits sequence” that will be updated before the release, just to get a demo version out to testers faster.

Anyway, there is one particular scene in the credits, which will change depending on certain things you did or didn’t do in the game and there will be one bonus scene after the credits, also depending on whether you’ve fulfilled the requirements for it. That stuff’s also mostly done, except for one bigger asset which I still gotta finish and I hope to get it done within the next couple of days, ideally before the end of the weekend.

So, with that said, I’m gonna return to work! But not without leaving you with some art again, because “Ryuu-chan” sent us this really kyuute and adowable Hima-kun which I obviously have to share:

Now, as always, please enjoy the remainder of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3

(PS: if you’re a patron, be sure to check your messages and get back to me, please!)
