Weekly Update #396: Chapter 2 Complete

Yup, we finally did it! Not only is GENBA no Kizuna‘s second chapter fully playable now, as of today, patrons can even try it out themselves and once again help us with testing and further improving the experience!

To give everyone else at least a glimpse at what you can expect during the game’s first real investigation phase, we’ve also got a whole bunch of new screenshots to share. I’ve actually posted quite a bunch on my private Twitter account this week, while I was going through the chapter myself for testing purposes, so I’ll just link them here:

So, what exactly can you expect in terms of content from the second chapter? Well, it’s about as long as the first one, meaning that it adds another ~50,000 words of script to the game, officially bringing us over the 100,000 word mark!

As you can see from the screenshot at the top, you can now finally choose from whose perspective to continue the investigation. Whereas Keiichi has to interview the mysterious witnesses, Himatsu takes care of the four members of Raptor Pack Productions, all while Rei examines the scene of the incident and Shinketsu the body of the victim.

There’s a lot of interactivity here, a myriad of clues and evidence to be found, a whole bunch of new music tracks and art assets and, given the changing perspectives, some glimpses into the struggles and backstories of our other investigators.

I guess that’s about all I want to say about it. We’re diving deep into the case here now, so I need to become a bit more careful about what to share, as difficult as it may be sometimes. You have no idea how much I’d like to unveil the identities of our witness characters, buuut… I’d rather you experience the reveal yourself while playing the game!

Anyway, this is another huge milestone, but of course there’s no time to rest. I’ll move right on to chapter 3 with the goal in mind of releasing a demo for it at the end of April, but I will talk more in depth about that during the coming weeks.
