Before we get into my plans for the next few weeks, let’s start with a little progress update! I’ve finished the outline for GENBA no Kizuna‘s second chapter and even sent it over to Natsu. This will actually be the very first time anyone outside of myself is going to read it. As a matter of fact, not even Natsu knows the whole story of GENBA, so I will be very curious to get my first feedback on the events lying beyond our extended demo.
I can’t wait to listen to her theories, which will hopefully give me a better idea of whether I’m on the right track or not…
The third chapter is almost done as well. I’ve been going through it again for some more revisions and will send the outline to Natsu some time next week. This is very exciting and nerve-wrecking at the same time. I’m actually relatively confident about the story and mysteries of GENBA, but I really worry about the execution. If you’ve worked on something so complex for such a long time, it becomes very difficult to tell if it’s still easy to follow for someone else, because you know all the answers anyway…
Either way, the next big task is to finish chapter 4, which I will hopefully do very soon as well. After some more delays, ideally, the story and mystery will be set by the end of this month. I do want to get back to some asset work, though. After doing nothing but writing and story-planning for the past month, I’m itching to draw something again. So I’d like to continue working on what will be needed to program the next few scenes.
That means that I might actually be able to share some visual previews again real soon!
Overall, that’s about it. Originally, my plans for this year were to either make the game playable until the end of chapter 3, or to write the entire script by the end of August. Right now, it seems like the latter might actually be somewhat achievable, even though I thought it might be the harder goal to reach… but we’ll see!
