Weekly Update #262: Final Release Preparations & Discord Server Launch

Almost there! Just a couple more days and we will finally release the extended GENBA no Kizuna demo to the public!
Consequently, it’s been a pretty busy week for us, with all the preparations and such, so let’s delve into that topic a little deeper…

First of all, we’ve been doing a lot of beta-testing, of course. With the help of our patrons, we’ve fixed a few more issues and added more polish to the game’s presentation. Quite a few things have changed ever since our first demo release, but I will go into more detail about that on the 26th, when the new one will be out.

Of course, there are a lot more things to get ready for the big day besides the demo itself, like the GENBA section on our website, for example. As of right now, the old demo is still linked there, but I have already updated the screenshots and demo description.

On a side note, while updating the site, I’ve also been thinking about deactivating the comment feature for our blog posts. We have been getting an increasing amount of spam messages and I’m growing really tired of having to delete them every day. We sadly haven’t been getting that many “legit” comments here anyway (although I seriously treasure the ones we got) and by now, I don’t think there is much of a point to it, as there are many other ways to contact us. Which actually leads me into the next topic…

You might have already noticed, but a new icon has joined the row of social media links at the top of the site and it leads you to our newly opened Discord server! Well, “newly opened” isn’t quite correct, I guess. I’ve actually started working on this in October of last year, lol. With the work on the demo and all the other things going on in life, I just never really got around to finishing what I originally set out to do: programming a bot for the server. You can see it in the list, but it’s still inactive as of right now.

And who knows? Maybe I’ll keep it that way, since it would be totally in-character for Raiko, haha. I’ve been thinking of starting over with a Rei bot instead, but… this isn’t something easy that can be done within just a couple of days. I’ll need more time to get really into this stuff. With the release of our extended demo right around the corner though, I didn’t want to wait any longer, so…

Bot or not, the server is now open for you to join! Just keep in mind that, between day jobs and VN development, we don’t have that much free time to spare, so it might take a bit for us to respond sometimes.

Now, still on the topic of updating stuff, I’ve also been working on our Patreon page a little. Only took me ages, but I have finally updated the main page description and adjusted the goals.

(Also, speaking of Patreon, patrons can already check out the final version of this year’s anniversary artwork!)

Anyway, I guess that’s about it. There is still more to do, so I should probably get back to work. I hope you’re looking forward to the demo release! I’m definitely pretty excited, but also a little nervous…

Now, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until the 26th, take care! :3
