Weekly Update # 165: Planning The Finale

So, another week has passed and we’re almost halfway to Halloween now. With that in mind, I have finally begun work on this year’s Halloween pic featuring the two characters our patrons have voted for. If you’re supporting us on Patreon, you can expect some WIP-glimpses of it showing up there soon!

(Also, patrons can now vote for what Natsu will be drawing in November. As of the moment I’m typing this, the two most popular choices are stuck at 50% each, so this might be your chance to end the stalemate!)

I’ll definitely focus on the Halloween artwork for now, but once that’s done, I’ll get back to finishing the assets needed for our GENBA no Kizuna demo. The very first background for it is very close to being finalized now. You can currently get a WIP-look at it on Patreon, but I will also share the finished version publicly. I honestly can’t wait to finally post an actual in-game screenshot (as opposed to the test pics I posted a while ago, where we simply re-used the breaker room background from SHINRAI).

Other than that, there isn’t too much else to report. I’ve also been making some more planning progress in regards to GENBA. I had a few more ideas for the game’s end discussion, which is getting more and more fleshed-out now. It’s always a little difficult to figure out where to start and how to let the discussion flow until you finally reach the ultimate truth. In which order should the various topics come up? Which mystery should be solved first? What’s the most logical, but also the most exciting and interesting discussion route? Slowly but surely, I’m getting there.

Planning the grand finale out in detail is also tremendously helpful for the rest of the game. It makes it much easier for me to see which pieces of evidence I have to put into the investigation segments and where to plant misleading information and red herrings.

I really can’t wait to get back to the actual writing, but for now, some other things still take priority.
Like that Halloween pic, which I want to get back to, so…

Please enjoy the rest of your weekend, have a spooky October and, until next Saturday, take care! :3

Hey, I just finished SHINRAI after staying up all night to do so! It was just so engrossing, I loved it. Upon searching for any information on sequels or other games, I stumbled upon this blog. Thank you for doing all of these weekly posts – devs who keep their fans updated regularly, and in so much detail. really are special. I appreciate your efforts and really look forward to your next game!

Thank you so much for your kind and motivating words!
As you might imagine, it makes us super happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed SHINRAI so much! But we’re also glad to hear that these weekly updates are appreciated. Outside of using them as motivation to get stuff done and have progress to talk about every week, they’re really about showing people that we’re actively working on our projects. Sometimes I wonder how many actually look at these, so it’s nice to get comments like this every once in a while, showing me that we’re definitely on the right track, haha.
