As promised in last week’s post, here we have another new addition to the cast of SHINRAI Saku – Blooming Beyond Despair:
Raiko‘s homeroom teacher Mana Kobayashi!
Just like Misaki, she will play a very minor role, primarily overseeing the little “confrontation” towards the end of the game.
If her name sounds familiar, you might actually remember hearing it in the original SHINRAI before, as Raiko mentioned her in her diary.
Back then, I honestly didn’t think too much about it. I quickly needed to come up with a teacher name and decided to go for a little Meitantei Conan reference, since Conan‘s teacher is named Sumiko Kobayashi.
When it came time to turn her into a proper character, I then went a step further and also based her design on her namesake.
That’s where the similarities end, though. Personality-wise, they’re very different, but what exactly she’s like, you’ll have to find out yourself by playing through Saku!
I guess the only other little detail I’m willing to share is about her first name. Aside from the fact that I think “Mana” is a very cute name, I primarily chose it because it can be written with the kanji for “education/study/learn/science”, more commonly read as “gaku”.
So yes, I guess you could say she’s been destined to become a teacher (or that I just wanted to incorporate yet another pun name…).
Anyway, she’s been added to the “Characters” section on the Saku sub page where only two more ?-slots remain! If you support us on Patreon, you can already check out some WIP-previews for the remaining two cast members (5$+ tiers), but of course, we’re also gonna reveal them publicly in the coming weeks!
