I’m still feeling a little under the weather, with my stupidly persistent cough driving me nuts, but at least I’ve recovered enough to finally make some notable progress again, primarily in regards to the background art for SHINRAI Saku!
The next part of the game takes us to the outdoor onsen of the ryokan, so I’ve been working on a series of related BGs, such as the one you can see above, which depicts the entrance to the changing rooms. Supporters of our Patreon have been able to check it out for a while now (without any obstructions and plus some WIP-steps) and I thought it’s about time I finally post a little public preview, too.
Fun fact: the sign in the center does not actually display any onsen-related rules or information as it should. Instead, I took the definition for the term “visual novel” from an old presentation I had to do in one of my Japanese classes and copy-pasted it into the frame as a little joke. And, of course, I couldn’t resist but add the sentence “By the way, I really love dinosaurs. Please watch JP!” at the end, haha.
I mean, it’s not like most players will be able to read it anyway, right? w
But yeah, as I said, this BG has been done for a while and I’ve since moved on to the two backgrounds for the actual hot springs, both of which are more or less done now. Just gotta work a bit more on the lighting, but patrons can definitely expect to see new preview posts this coming week! Maybe I’ll even share a public preview of one of them too, but I still have to see about that.
Anyway, that more or less wraps it up for this week. Gonna get back to work now while you’ll hopefully have a relaxing, stress-free time!
