In case you’ve missed it, both SHINRAI – Broken Beyond Despair and GENBA no Kizuna celebrated their release anniversaries recently. And since it’s been the very first time for the latter, we took a closer look at it (particularly its reception over the past twelve months) in last week’s blog post. So if you’re curious about that and haven’t done so yet, be sure to check that out!
Then, of course, we used the occasion to publish the store pages for our next project SHINRAI Saku – Blooming Beyond Despair, sharing some first screenshots and providing a bit more info as to what you can expect from it! And from here on out, as we continue to work towards its release, we’re gonna get back to our regular development updates and showcasing more of this new tale and its cast, starting with another new addition to it whose name should actually sound familiar to you!
Not only has Misaki been mentioned in BBD a couple of times, her father Akira Ginmaku was also involved with GENBA‘s suspect quartet Raptor Pack Productions. So it was only a matter of time before the two of them would show up, which they will in Withering Without Hope as major characters. However, Saku will already feature Misaki in a minor role and provide a little bit of setup for WWH.
Truth be told, she originally wasn’t intended to show up so soon, but… I have to admit that Misaki has become one of my most favorite OC children and so I simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to give her an early introduction. Will some players maybe question why she’s even there? Perhaps. Do I give a damn? Not at all! I’m just excited to finally share her with the world!!
I’ve already unveiled her to patrons a couple of days ago, so don’t forget that you can get early looks at these kinds of things over there! In the same post, I’ve also shared a first WIP-preview of another character who will show up in Saku and whose name should be even more familiar to you: our mischievous little devil Mika! So if you do support us on Patreon, be sure to check that out as well!
Anyway, that’ll be all for today. As always, I wish you a very pleasant remainder of your weekend! Until next Saturday, take care :3
(PS: In yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, a remake of Fatal Frame II – Crimson Butterfly was announced and I highly recommend everyone check out that game if you’ve never seen or heard about it! As you will quickly notice, it was heavily inspirational for BBD and its influence will also be felt and seen in WWH!)
