For the most part, this past week has been spent on script work again. As I mentioned in last week’s blog post, the main goal this month is to finally get the first chapter fully done. Part of that involves going through what we have already released in the shape of the extended demo and making some adjustments, based on the feedback we’ve received ever since its release, as well as on the work I’ve done on the rest of the script.
We will update the extended demo eventually and I will give you a detailed change log then, but nothing too major is going to be changed about it. The amount of small changes does add up, however. There were even some inconsistencies and logical errors left in the demo I’m surprised slipped by me, so that makes me feel a bit embarrassed, even though no one ever noticed, I guess!
The biggest change is probably going to be the implementation of actual narrative segments, something I’ve also briefly mentioned before and will elaborate on further in the near future.
In any case, I’ve gone through the entire demo content and also the two following scenes now. Which means that, next week, I’ll finally have to tackle the biggest, most complicated part of the first chapter that I’ve been struggling with for a long time now: the investigation of Ryuunosuke‘s room. To be honest, it actually is mostly done now, but there are still a few parts I’d like to find better solutions for and some of the dialogue scenarios with Amber still aren’t done yet, due to their rather complex nature.
Next Saturday, that will hopefully be taken care of, though!
I’ve also continued working on some of the assets that are still missing, like one last sprite variation for Amber. The pose is done, but I still need to work a bit more on the expressions.
That more or less sums it up for this week. I’m busy with a few other things which I’d rather not talk publicly about just yet, but if you’re a patron, you can check out this recent update in which I talk a bit more about what’s going on behind the scenes.
Now, before I come to a close, I’d like to share something with you, which I stumbled across a couple of days ago and which made me super happy. Check out this amazing video by Nutrin:
I honestly can’t put into words how much I appreciate this and just how it made me feel. Never thought I’d ever see a video like this pop up on YouTube about our little VN. I’m really flattered and incredibly happy to know that people appreciate it to this degree!
Now, as always, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3
