As mentioned in last week’s blog post, the monitor of my desktop pc recently died, which is quite essential for me to do anything art-related. As such, I’ve been focusing on the writing again, while waiting for my new monitor to arrive. And although it did a couple of days ago… it unfortunately has a few issues, so in the end, I’ll have to get another one and thus mostly skip out on any asset work for GENBA for a little bit longer “orz
I did manage to take care of a few very simple things (like preparing sprites for Natsu to color), though for the most part, I was left with no choice but to stick to writing again, which I guess… isn’t really that bad, as the script needs to get done some day.
As always, my perfectionist side gave me a bit of trouble, so I’m a little frustrated not to have made more progress than I did. I’m happy with how the current scene works right now, since I made it much more interactive than it was before, throwing in a couple of choices in order to involve the reader a bit more than simply letting the characters talk on their own.
The problem with inserting choices, of course, is the fact that dialogues split into alternate dialogue paths that, eventually, need to come together again. As such, each of those paths needs to logically flow into the same destination and, at least for me, it can get a bit confusing to keep track of things and make sure that, no matter which choices you pick, the essential stuff is always conveyed.
I will hopefully finish with this scene tomorrow, so that I can spend the last week of April on some other things. Ideally revisions and proofreading, so that I can finally have the things I’ve been working on recently set in stone by then.
Starting from May, there are only four months left until SHINRAI‘s 5th anniversary, and I’d like to achieve quite a few things for that occasion, so I really gotta pick up the pace!
