So, before we get into today’s main topic, let’s start off with a quick progress update! As you can see above, I’ve worked on sprites a bit more and have finished a new variation for Shiku. With this, all her sprites for chapter one have been drawn now!
I also continued working on the sprites for our mystery witnesses who will be introduced in chapter 2 and will soon give their base variations to Natsu for coloring. Probably not going to give you a preview of them, though, as I’d really like their identity to be a surprise in the full game!
Speaking of spoilery previews, however, I have finally shared one for the “dead body” CG over on Patreon. So, if you’re curious as to what our victim actually looks like, you can get a first look at him right here.
Outside of that, I’ve also continued writing, of course, and although I have been struggling again with the GENBA script, I’ve actually made quite a bit of progress on the one for our secret SHINRAI side project (which I’m planning to work a bit more on later)!
But yeah, January’s almost over and I haven’t quite finished up what I wanted to do. In the end, it’s really difficult to wrap up the first chapter for GENBA due to a variety of reasons. I’m thinking I might actually need to advance a bit further in the story, before I can properly finish up the last three scenes. Which is why I have decided that I’ll still continue moving forward with my original plan and dedicate February to writing the second chapter.
Once again, the second chapter already exists in the shape of a ~14,000 word outline, with many dialogues and scenes fully written out, while others only exist in detailed key notes. So it’s not like I need to start on this from scratch. Still, given my recent writing struggles, I’m a little bit scared of running into troubles again. But ideally, I’ll get it done relatively quickly. Guess we’ll have to see.
Asset-wise, I will focus on chapter 2 as well. That means, first and foremost, getting the sprites for our witnesses done. And then I’ll have to see how many new variations the already existing characters will need. In terms of BGs and CGs, there thankfully isn’t anything new to be done, so at least that’s a relief, haha.
