Weekly Update #518: Steam Achievements

As mentioned in last week’s blog post, the beta-test phase for GENBA no Kizuna is now officially underway! The beta build is in the hands of our testers and although no one has completed their run yet, I did already receive some very helpful feedback reports!

Now, while we continue to wait until we’ve fully heard back from everyone, I’ve decided to tackle two major things this past week:
the remaining three bonus scenes as well as the Steam achievements.

I had pushed back the special unlockable bonus scenes for Rei, Shinketsu and Himatsu in order to focus on getting the main game done for beta-testing. Given that the bonus scenes read more like diary entries (comparable to those found in SHINRAI‘s extras), I figured I could just send them over to testers as text documents later on.

Anyway, two out of the three scenes are done now, with only Shin‘s remaining! As for the achievements, well…

As of today, they’re all set in stone and defined on Steam! Icons, names, descriptions, unlock conditions… it’s all there!

You will be able to get 20 in total, with most of them being very similar to those found in SHINRAI. There’s achievements for the regular stuff, like clearing the individual phases (or “chapters”), some a little more challenging ones for scoring a Detective Rank of 100% and 0%, as well as a few “hidden” ones I can’t say anything about, due to spoilers.

I might elaborate more once the achievement list can go public, but of course, that’s gonna take a little longer.
First, we gotta put the actual game build on Steam and make sure the achievements get unlocked during play.

Anyway, just figuring out the achievements, coming up with the names and icons etc. sure was tough, so I’m glad it’s done, which means we’re another step closer to release!

Next up, I’ll be focusing on that final bonus scene and then work on a few more release prep-related tasks.
As for you, please enjoy the rest of your weekend and, until next Saturday, take care :3

(PS: We’ve also just posted the next entry in our “Behind the Name” series on Twitter, so if you want to know more about Terano‘s name, click here!)
